Bass fishing means fishing for the North American gamefish known in modern language as the black bass. Bass fishing is the most famous game fish in North America.

Bass belongs to the Sunfish family, a group known as black bass (genus) and in this genus there are 14 categories. The 3 primary ones are the:
LARGEMOUTH BASS (Micropterus Salmoides) - These are the biggest of all black basses. They survive in warmer water, which is common among the bass. They can be discovered in an enormous portion of North America.
SMALLMOUTH BASS (Micropterus Dolomieu) – These are smaller compared to largemouth bass. They do well in clearer and cooler bodies of water. Angling a smallmouth bass is fun because of their most aggressive behavior. They are most commonly found at the middle and lower Mississippi river basins in North America.
SPOTTED BASS (Micropterus Punctulatus) - They are the tiniest among black basses. They almost look identical with largemouth bass. They can survive in both warmer and cooler water temperatures.
